Senior Software Engineer, Platform

Timely Schools — AI-powered school scheduling · ~63 employees · $7M raised

Remote — USA (New York or Boston preferred)Full-time · Remote$150K – $200K + equity

About the role

Timely Schools is an education technology company transforming how schools build master schedules for teachers and students. Starting with two pilot districts four years ago, Timely now serves half a million students across 20+ states — with growth and renewal rates that lead the EdTech industry. Series A completed August 2025, led by Workshop Ventures and A Street ($7M raised).

80% of the company are former educators, including co-founder and CTO Faisal Anwar, who started as a math teacher. That shows up as a genuine culture of learning, mentorship, and care that runs across the whole team — engineering included, spread across multiple time zones internationally.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Platform with 3+ years of infrastructure and platform engineering experience to own cloud infrastructure, shared tooling, observability, auth systems, and CI/CD — improving engineering team productivity, system reliability, and development velocity.

Fully remote — USA. New York or Boston preferred. No visa sponsorship — US citizens or Green Card holders only.

What you will own

  • Identify, prioritise, design, and deliver platform solutions spanning cloud infrastructure, test infrastructure, shared product libraries, security practices, authentication, and CI/CD tooling
  • Take ownership of production availability — implement observability, recovery practices, and provide periodic on-call support
  • Work closely with engineering stakeholders to understand pain points and unlock opportunities for the team to deliver value quickly
  • Drive investigation and decision-making on key technology choices that impact how the team builds and maintains software
  • Lead critical platform projects end-to-end — defining scope, creating tickets, and managing delivery timelines
  • Uplevel the engineering team through documentation, presentations, design/code reviews, and mentoring
  • Design and develop full-stack solutions when necessary, including frontend work
