Sr / Staff Data Engineer
Orderful — the fastest way to trade EDI · ~100 employees · $85M raised
About the role
Orderful is looking for a Senior or Staff Data Engineer to join as the second data hire and help own and drive the entire data function. You'll partner directly with the current data lead to build data products, extend a modern platform, and tackle both zero-to-one and scaling challenges across infrastructure, modeling, and customer-facing analytics.
This role demands a full-stack data engineer who thrives in ambiguity, can independently discover the highest-leverage problems, and has the systems thinking to design platforms others build on top of. If you're energized by messy, real-world data and want the autonomy to shape a data practice from the ground up — this is it.
Orderful is a ~100-person company backed by Andreessen Horowitz, GLP Capital Partners, NewRoad Capital Partners, and Initialized Capital, fully remote across the US and Canada.
Remote — US or Canada. No visa sponsorship (US citizens/Green Card holders); Canadian work authorization also accepted.
What you will own
- Own significant portions of the data function end-to-end — from infrastructure and pipeline design through to stakeholder-facing analytics and governance
- Build and extend an agentic semantic layer, event-driven data products, and customer-facing analytics where the data itself is the feature
- Design and operate data infrastructure on AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks — including being on call and ensuring production reliability
- Drive zero-to-one initiatives across streaming, data governance, and knowledge management while keeping day-to-day data requests under control
- Evaluate and select best-in-class tools and technologies, keeping the platform flexible as the landscape evolves with AI
